Charles Vane has experienced a great deal of abuse in many different forms during his lifetime, particularly as a youth. Depending on the interpretation, it's implied that there may have been sexual abuse as well during his years as a slave, which took place while he was still a minor.

This is unlikely to come up in tags except in very specific circumstances with established romantic partners, but it does inform his willingness to be vulnerable (both physically and emotionally) with other people, particularly men. This includes receiving penetrative sex. By the same token, it also weighs the value he puts on freedom and choice, and makes him unwilling to be with partners who don't want to be with him.
